Friday 2nd October Song Settings of Shakespeare
7:30pm - 9:30pm
Baritone Simon Woodhead, accompanied by Joe Laredo on piano and Paul Martin on lute, will sing a variety of settings of words by Shakespeare, including the well-known (such as "Who is Sylvia?", "Under the Greenwood Tree", "Willow, Willow, Willow") and the less well known, with music by composers from Thomas Arne and Hubert Parry to Percy Grainger, Erich Korngold and Benjamin Britten, with Shakespeare-inspired instrumental "interludes" by Joe and Paul, including music from Prokofiev's "Romeo and Juliet" ballet.
Delicious cakes, tea and coffee will be served during the interval.
This is a free concert concert with retiring collection to raise funds for the SMSG Welcome/Greater Access Project.
